Refund Policy
1. 14-day refund
If you ask for a refund within 14 days of purchase, we will give you a full refund, no questions asked. Email [email protected] and we will process it — see Section 9 for how and when.
After the 14-day window has passed, enrollment is non-refundable. We do not issue refunds, credits, partial refunds, pro-rated amounts, or exchanges outside that window, for any reason, subject to Section 8, which sets out the rights you may hold under the law of your own country that we cannot take away — and which, where they apply, override everything else on this page.
2. Why 14 days
Road English is a digital product delivered instantly on payment, and we can't take back what has already been accessed, so we can't keep refunds open indefinitely — but 14 days is enough time to try the course and decide it isn't right for you, and we'd rather give you that window than make you argue for it.
3. After 14 days, no refund for any reason, including, without limitation
- Change of mind, or buying by mistake.
- Dissatisfaction with the content, teaching approach, audio quality, translations, or difficulty level.
- Not using the course, or not finishing it, during your enrollment term.
- Unused time remaining on an enrollment term.
- Failing any test or examination, or not obtaining or keeping a licence, certification, permit, or job. See the Disclaimer — we guarantee no outcome.
- Duplicate purchases, or purchases made by someone with access to your account or payment method.
- Problems with your own device, browser, or internet connection.
- Service interruptions, downtime, maintenance, or third-party outages.
- Changes to, or removal of, course content, features, or languages.
- Suspension or termination of your account for breach of the Terms of Use.
- Deleting your account or withdrawing consent to our Privacy Policy.
4. Before you buy
Check that your device and browser work, review the curriculum and language list, and email us at [email protected] with any question before you pay. We are glad to answer.
5. Cancellation
You may stop using the Service, cancel your enrollment from your account, or ask us to delete your account at any time. Cancelling or deleting ends your access immediately. If you are within the 14-day window in Section 1, cancelling this way does not itself get you a refund — email us to request one. Outside that window, cancelling does not produce a refund, and any remaining enrollment time is forfeited. Enrollment terms do not renew automatically unless the checkout page expressly says so.
6. Billing errors
If you believe you were charged in error — for example, charged twice for the same enrollment, charged an amount you did not authorize, or charged after your enrollment already ended — email [email protected] with Billing in the subject line, within 30 days of the charge, with the transaction details. We will review it and correct a genuine processing error. Correcting our own error is not an exception to this policy and does not create a right to a refund in any other circumstance.
7. Chargebacks
Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank or card issuer. Filing a chargeback rather than contacting us is a breach of the Terms of Use. We may immediately suspend or terminate your account, will contest the dispute with evidence of delivery and of your acceptance of this policy at checkout, and may recover the disputed amount together with any fees and reasonable costs.
This section does not prevent you from exercising a right under Section 8, or from disputing a charge you genuinely did not authorize.
8. Mandatory consumer rights
Nothing in this policy removes or limits any right you hold under the law of your own country or region that cannot be waived by agreement. Where such a right applies, it applies in full, it overrides anything on this page that conflicts with it, and the rest of this page continues to apply to everything else. If you believe you hold such a right, write to us and say so — we will honour it.
8.1 European Union and EEA
If you are a consumer resident in the EU or EEA, Directive 2011/83/EU on consumer rights normally gives you 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract without giving any reason. Our own Section 1 already gives every customer, everywhere, that same 14-day no-questions-asked refund — so in practice this statutory right and our policy line up, and you don't need to invoke one versus the other.
Separately, EU consumers have a statutory right to conformity of digital content under Directive (EU) 2019/770. If the course is not as described or is not fit for purpose, you are entitled to have it brought into conformity and, where that fails or is disproportionate, to a price reduction or termination with a refund. That right is not affected by anything on this page, and is not time-limited to 14 days.
Alternative dispute resolution. We are not obliged to, and do not currently, participate in alternative dispute resolution before a consumer ADR body, but we will always try to resolve a complaint directly.
8.2 United Kingdom
If you are a consumer resident in the UK, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you an equivalent 14-day cancellation right, which our Section 1 policy already matches. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 also requires digital content to be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described; where it is not, you have a right to repair, replacement, or a price reduction, and those rights are not excluded or limited by this policy.
8.3 Canada
Nothing in this policy removes any right you have under the British Columbia Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act, the Quebec Consumer Protection Act, or the consumer protection legislation of your own province or territory — including any statutory cancellation right for a distance contract where the supplier fails to deliver, or any protection against a deceptive or unconscionable practice.
8.4 United States
Nothing in this policy waives any right you hold under applicable federal or state consumer protection law, or limits your rights under the Fair Credit Billing Act to dispute a billing error with your card issuer.
8.5 Australia and New Zealand
If the Australian Consumer Law or the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 applies to you, our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. Nothing in this policy operates to exclude, restrict, or modify those guarantees.
8.6 Everywhere else
Wherever you are, if your local law grants you a non-waivable refund, cancellation, or withdrawal right, that right applies notwithstanding this policy.
9. How we handle a refund we do owe
Where a refund is owed under Section 1 or Section 8, or is otherwise agreed by us, we issue it to the original payment method, in the original currency, within 14 days of accepting the request. We do not charge a processing fee. We are not responsible for currency conversion differences or foreign-transaction fees applied by your bank between the charge and the refund.
