1. Road English teaches English. That is all it does.

Road English is an English-as-a-second-language product for professional drivers. It exists to help you understand and speak English in the situations a driver encounters.

It is not, and must never be treated as: legal advice; immigration or visa advice; employment advice; medical advice; safety advice; driver training; defensive-driving instruction; a licensing, testing, or examination preparation course; a compliance manual; or regulatory guidance of any kind.

No lawyer, immigration consultant, licensed instructor, safety officer, regulator, or examiner has reviewed, approved, or endorsed this content.

2. No affiliation with any authority

Dextrata Software Inc. is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, licensed by, accredited by, or reviewed by any government, ministry, department, regulator, licensing body, testing authority, examiner, inspection agency, enforcement agency, border service, carrier, employer, union, or trade association, in Canada, the United States, or anywhere else.

Any name, term, sign, form, or procedure appearing in the course does so purely as vocabulary and context for language learning. Their appearance implies no relationship, approval, or authorization whatsoever.

3. Regulatory and operational content is illustrative only

Lessons may refer to road signs, commercial driver licensing (including CDL), medical certificates, roadside and vehicle inspections, hours of service and logbooks, weights and dimensions, cargo securement, dangerous goods, bills of lading and transport documents, border and customs crossing, weigh stations, and similar subjects.

All of it is simplified for language teaching. It may be incomplete, generalized, regionally inaccurate, or out of date. Rules differ between countries, between provinces and states, between carriers, and over time — and they change without us knowing. Nothing in the course is a statement of what the law requires of you.

You must independently verify every rule, requirement, limit, form, and procedure with the applicable authority, your carrier, and your employer before acting on it. If the course and an authority disagree, the authority is right and the course is wrong.

4. No guarantee of any outcome

We make no representation, warranty, promise, or guarantee that using Road English will cause you to:

Language learning outcomes depend on your starting level, effort, practice, time, aptitude, and circumstances — all of which are outside our control. Any testimonial, example, or result shown on this site is that individual's experience and is not a typical, expected, or promised result.

5. Machine-generated audio and translation

Course audio is produced by automated text-to-speech, not by human recording. Pronunciation, stress, and intonation may be wrong, and should not be treated as a pronunciation standard.

The course and this site are offered in several languages. English and Spanish have been reviewed; the Russian, Ukrainian, Hindi, Punjabi, Arabic, Urdu, and Croatian editions are unreviewed machine-assisted drafts and may contain errors, mistranslations, or wording that changes the meaning. The English version of all content, including every legal document on this site, is the authoritative version. In the event of any conflict or ambiguity, the English version governs.

6. Safety — never use this while driving

Do not use Road English, or any device running it, while operating a vehicle or while otherwise on duty in a way that requires your attention. Do not use it while a vehicle is in motion, at a weigh station queue, or anywhere that distraction creates risk. Use it when parked, off duty, and safe.

You are solely responsible for your own driving, conduct, hours, attention, and compliance with all applicable laws. We accept no liability for any collision, injury, death, property damage, citation, fine, violation, penalty, licence suspension, out-of-service order, loss of employment, or other consequence arising from your use of the Service or your reliance on its content.

7. Third-party content and links

The Service may reference or link to third-party sites, materials, and providers. We do not control them, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, security, or practices.

8. Availability and errors

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". Content may contain typographical, factual, audio, or translation errors, and we may correct, change, or remove any part of it at any time without notice. See Sections 13 and 14 of the Terms of Use for the full disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability, which apply to everything on this page.

Course content is subject to change at any time. We may add, revise, replace, or withdraw any lesson, topic, exercise, or feature at any time and without notice, including to comply with changes in law, regulation, or government guidance, to reflect enforcement practice, to correct errors, or to manage legal risk. Such changes do not entitle you to a refund or credit except as set out in our Refund Policy.
